Evan Sayet doesn't just talk the talk--the conservative comedian rails against liberals and big government in his stand-up comedy routine. He also walks the walk, most recently at a Tea Party protest in Ventura where he gave a speech.
While I didn't get a chance to see him that evening, I've seen another one of his speeches at an Obamacare protest in Thousand Oaks last year, and it was fiery.
I've also checked out his stand up act, and it's really something special. The man is funny and quick-witted, and he has a great stage presence. He's also poignant--just because you're laughing doesn't mean you're not listening to thoughtful political commentary. I think Michael Barone nailed it when he said, "Evan has crossed that line from 'funny' to 'important.'"
"Comedy is a weapon," Sayet says on a promotional video of his Right to Laugh comedy tour. [continue reading]

Eric Ingemunson's commentary has been featured on Hannity, CNN, NBC, Inside Edition, and KFI's The John and Ken Show.
Eric was born and raised in Ventura County and currently resides in Moorpark. He earned a master's degree in Public Policy and Administration from California Lutheran University. As a conservative, Eric supports smaller government, less taxation, more individual freedom, the rule of law, and a strict adherence to the Constitution.

Two county supervisors walk into a bar. One says to the other "I look forward to seeing you in the debate this month". The other county supervisor looks down and says "didn't you hear? There isn't going to be a debate because we didn't meet Eric's deadline". The other supervisor says "I have chunks of people like Eric in my stoole why is he giving me a deadline"? The other supervisor answers "I don't know".
Thank you, thank you, don't forget to tip the waitresses!!
Nobody, I don't see what the big deal is with setting a date to reach an agreement by. There was ample time for the process--a couple of weeks. If you throw in the person that was working on it before me, then the process had over a month's time dedicated to it. I think that's reasonable. Being called a stool chunk is a new one for me. I hope I'm of the variety that keeps returning after it's been flushed.
Deadlines highlight problems. It gives the impression the person isn't punctual. I have been reading your stuff long enough to know you're smarter than that. You always want to keep the door open. You didn't come up with that deadline. It does; on the other hand, sound like something a VCRCC doink would do.
If you look a little there's several million dollars worth of true stories all around you.
I didn't mean to leave any impression that Supervisor Parks isn't punctual. She was responsive, and there wasn't a deadline from me until the very end. After the VCYR and she reached an impasse, I notified her of the impasse and that negotiations would conclude on such-and-such a date unless some breakthrough occurred. It didn't, the deadline passed, and that was the ballgame.
