Nation mourns hero sniper, with or without the President

The sniper with the most confirmed kills in American history was laid to rest today in Texas. Conspicuously absent was the President of the United States. His failure to even issue a statement about his death will be a minor controversy for a few days then be forgotten, at least by the general public. But Obama's reaction to his death in a stark reminder how far removed this president is from the citizens he governs.

I suspect any other president would have played a part in Chris Kyle's memorial service at Dallas Cowboys Stadium, which was heavily attended by the military. What's worse--and even more telling--he probably wasn't even welcome.

It used to be that an unofficial requisite to serve as president was serving in the military. Now, we have one that seems to disrespect the military, and they disrespect him. You'd think it'd be a news story.
