I agree with you. It's abysmal they would spend their time on this when there are so many more pressing issues. I'm sure you and the Teachers are upset at such a waste of time.

Tim:

I'm not really interested in who get's to run the meeting at the school district as a topic. Titles only suggest to me Lilliputian-like entitlements, which I could care less about...

When public servants begin to feel they are entitled to certain titles, or parking spots, or private memberships to golf courses, or free vacations, I get concerned about the people's business.

An issue I'd like to start taking a closer look at is what mechanisms and collaboration is going on between school districts and local colleges.

In Northern California there is a collaborative program, which has been underfunded for some time now. It is focusing high school teachers and college professors to develop styles of teaching that condense both high school curriculum content standards and college standards to ensure better transitions for students.

What is being done in Simi Valley with Moorpark College, CSUN, and CLU? What else can we do?

I remember how terrible I was at college prep chemistry/biology in High School, but without it I would have never got through my college science courses at Moorpark and the University of Arizona.

I'm aware the ed foundation works and collaborates with the moorpark college foundation. Arleigh, are you aware of any school district programs where SVUSD is working with local colleges?

I believe Bob Huber is our college district's trustee. Maybe, these are questions for him.

Camarillo is also divided by two points of view. One wants unification and one does not. The one that does not has 2 seats on the board, but demanded the top seat.

Simi Valley had a hotly contested election. One slate of candidates won, one lost.

Would it not be undemocratic to give power to the side that did not win?

Giving the top seat away is only a custom according to people that want it when they don't have the votes.

To me, it's really a non-story. It's just the way politics is played... To the victor go the spoils. There is no need to take this stuff personally...

I'm really not sure what a public fight over a title accomplishes? Anyone?

Scott,

I agree that it is a non-story, and I really wish the trustees would just get back to work on educating our kids.
