Not a GOP evangelical
I would guess that the greatest stereotype today is that of an evangelical Christian. An evangelical Christian is simply one who believes that Jesus is God and that salvation comes through faith. I am an evangelical Christian, but I am definitely not a conservative Republican.
The incorrect stereotype is frustrating. An evangelical can be conservative, liberal or middle-of-the-road; Republican, Democrat or independent; black, white or brown; American or from one of myriad other nations on Earth. Unfortunately, very conservative Republicans have became synonymous with evangelical Christians. They might be, but one is not the same as the other.

I thought that a central these for evangelical christians was the idea of putting your faith into practice through witnessing and social activism. Is this not the case?
So what IS the correct term for a religious very conservative Republican?
