Re: Jean Leighton’s Feb. 8 letter, “Respect the presidency:

Apparently the author of the letter about the latest Cindy Sheehan action of printing the number of fatalities in Iraq on her black T-shirt under her black jacket and her ejection from the State of the Union address — resulting in her arrest, fingerprinting and booking into jail — did not read the entire story.

It seems there was another lady up in the balcony who also had lettering on her T-shirt. It happened to be pro-war. She, too, was ejected, but she was not arrested, fingerprinted or taken to jail. The letter writer did not even mention her, and she was mentioned in the same news story.

Why only one arrest that night, in this nation that is so proud of our pledge of equality? I guess she was not born in a barn, like Sheehan, as the author states.
For her information, it is not just California representatives who give out tickets to balcony seats.

Lastly, her jab at Sen. Edward Kennedy was an old story. She insinuates that he made no effort to save his passenger, even though that would have been in his best interest. In fact, he made many attempts, but a person can live just so long underwater, as any intelligent person knows. I am aware that he is called a murderer by Rush Limbaugh. I believe that Sen. Kennedy is very familiar with the real meaning of murder. He has watched for years the film of one brother being murdered by having part of his head blown off and the other falling to the floor with a bullet in his body. Perhaps he leaves the room to weep during those playbacks, as the pain must be a very heavy burden to bear.
