Thanks to Moorpark

As a Ventura County resident who regularly passes through Moorpark, I want to personally thank its citizens for voting down the North Park development.

Moorpark residents have curtailed the obvious stress that the development would have imposed on an already overburdened infrastructure and, hopefully, they have made an impact on the future of other major projects in the county, such as the Fagan Canyon project in Santa Paula.

It’s nice to know that when true quality-of-life issues are at the fore, the citizenry makes the stand and not the almighty city planners and their seemingly useless mitigating standards for these huge developments.

Village of the Park and California State University, Channel Islands, directly correlate to the Camarillo Crawl, and River Park in Oxnard will soon fill the new Wagon Wheel exchange — and then what? We’re all back to square one, with literally years of inconvenience and no relief.

Thanks, Moorpark, for raising the bar in favor of our basic Ventura County quality-of-life issues.
