The advocates of illegal immigration often talk about the benefits of cheap labor. Cheap labor is certainly a benefit to business, but the advocates usually fail to mention the hidden costs to the community.
Illegal workers generally have family members who do not work. These family members are typically women with two or more children living at home — the Latino population has the highest fertility rate of any ethnic group. These family members may use educational, health, welfare and environmental resources, for which the community must pay.
Careful analysis shows that “cheap labor is not cheap.
