I am a veteran of the Korean War, “the forgotten war. When I came home, I also wanted to forget it. As my grandson grew older, he asked about the war, as few people knew anything about it. We discussed it, and he asked me if I had any medals. I told him when I was discharged, they didn’t give them to me. I tried to obtain them several times and was unsuccessful.
I then decided to visit my congressman, Elton Gallegly. I spoke to one of his aides. She asked the necessary questions she needed to obtain them. She was very polite, sensing it was hard for me to visit those old memories that were best forgotten. Soon after that, much to my surpris,e his office called and wanted to see me. I walked into the office and told the aide who I was. She immediately went into another office. U.S. Rep. Gallegly came out of his office and personally handed me my medals, shook my hand and thanked me for my sacrifices for serving my country.
This is why I am voting for Elton Gallegly for my congressman. He is honest, experienced and very knowledgeable about his job. My experiences with him proved to me just how caring he is about his constituents of the 24th District.
