I urge the president to adhere to the rule of law, to all-too-belatedly uphold human and civil rights, close Guantanamo and all other prisons for political prisoners and release all prisoners. If no criminal charges have been brought against them in all the years they've been held and reportedly subjected to torture and inhumane treatment, I believe the government has forfeited the right to bring charges. Any future suspected violators of U.S. laws should be accorded due process.
The United States should live up to the rhetoric and support human and civil rights, freedom and the rule of law.
