More backward thinking

Re: Yahya Merchant’s June 28 letter, “No, they aren’t like us:

Here’s more backward thinking, in regards to Merchant’s reply to my original letter (July 25, “Not like us). They are nothing like us.

This is just the kind of backward thinking we don’t need: going back to the Middle Ages to find excuses for the barbaric acts of the last few years, like the hundreds of Africans killed in the Embassy bombings, the wanton slaughter of their own people and the recent plot to kill hundreds of those horrible Canadians who welcomed them into their country.

While the West has moved forward in science and human rights, the Middle East has moved in the other direction, and the only one thing for certain that can be blamed for that is their religion. It has crushed their culture and humanity and made them a threat to civilization itself.

I am interested in preserving the world for those who deserve to inhabit it.

What age was it when they came up with torture. What age was our Vice President using as an example to justify that?
