Re: Irma Schneider’s July 12 letter, “Let’s be reasonable, folks:

I was greatly disturbed to read the letter from Schneider, wherein she decries those who complain that our soldiers are being killed in Iraq. She writes, "2,500 have been killed in over a three-year period … more could be killed on U.S. highways, and “We're fighting a war.

She has obviously never fought in a war or had a son or daughter do so. If she had, she’d know that every life is sacred. Israel invaded Lebanon over the life of one soldier. So here we are in a war that Congress did not declare against an enemy that did not attack us but has lots of oil. And she’s willing to throw away 2,500-plus American lives.

If this war is so important, when is she enlisting?

The decision to fight a war should never be decided on how easy it is to win or how much money the President's friends could make. It should be decided on how just a cause it is.
