Howard, a former Nordhoff High School history teacher, made it clear he hates the state of Israel. That is his right, and I am not criticizing him for expressing his opinion.
I am also not writing to defend or decry Israel or its neighbors, although with regard to the war between Israel, Hezbollah, and Hamas, I believe only God has the right to take the lives of innocents, and I know that God is not the one firing rockets, driving tanks, shooting AK-47s and dropping bombs in the civilian areas of Israel, Lebanon and Palestine.
What interested me about Landon's letter more than its markedly anti-Israel stance was that in my experience, every Landon I have ever known has been Jewish.
