I am a new resident of the Mandalay Shores beach neighborhood. I moved here from inland due to the fact that I love the ocean and beaches. I was pleasantly surprised at the rental prices compared with those inland, so here I am.
My problem is this: When I walked down my street to go to the beach the day after I moved in, I was so disappointed to find out that there was so much driftwood and remains from bonfires on our beach. Inside the bonfire area was broken glass! And, upon further investigation, I found there were no trash containers on the beach.
I walk and run this beach on a daily basis, and I am upset by the fact that it isn’t taken care of by the city or county from Fifth Street to the Embassy Suites property.
Could someone please explain this to me? The other beaches in the area seem well groomed and maintained. I have walked all through Hollywood Beach and Silver Strand too.

The Republicans gave their friends a bunch of money so the county is getting less money. The community needs to organize something or it stays that way.
No, the Democrats sold out to the environmentalist and this 'au natural' look of drift wood on the beaches is the new "in thing".
Honestly, Bonnie look on the other side from where you are living at the harbor. It's pretty neglected too compared to ventura harbor. Channel Islands harbor and the adjoining beaches are diamonds in the rough and as a new resident we welcome action to get the city and county off their political blaming game.
