I’ve been increasingly worried about the difference in speed and size of vehicles in auto traffic lanes and bicycle lanes. Multiton cars and trucks at high speed blast past bikers, walkers, joggers and children, separated by mere inches. I watch people in cars cross that car/bike line every single day while they follow the curves on Agoura Road, just to the west of Kanan Road.
The recent heartbreaking accident involving avid cyclist Glenn Garvin is an example of this increasing danger. To help avoid this hazard, I propose that we add bumps along the dividing stripe like those used to separate freeway lanes — the bumps are universally known as “Bott’s Dots. They would act as a relatively low-cost buffer to continually remind drivers not to cross that line.
I further propose that we create a fund in Mr. Garvin’s honor. This fund would help provide the necessary money for this life-saving feature while paying tribute to his unfortunate and untimely passing.

I have ridden bikes, both a roady and off road, and where the law did not apply I tried to use common sense.
Unfortuneatly, too many bicyclists, especially some in groups, will ride side by side in bike lanes putting them too close to vehicles passing them. They seen to have formed the attitude that drivers should look out for them when, using common sense, they should take the responsibility of not putting themselves in harms way.
