Re: your Sept. 17 article, “Mexican Independence Day celebrated ‘Viva Mexico’:

Perhaps Rosa Gascoigne would see more Anglo faces in the crowds celebrating Mexican Independence Day if this country wasn't under direct attack from the citizens of Mexico who have illegally invaded the United States and believe it is their right to tear down our flag to be replaced by theirs.

I'm suggesting another celebration to balance the issue. I believe that celebrating the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo every February 2 would be not only celebrate the legal acquisition of much of the southwest United States from Mexico, but it would educate our Mexican neighbors that this is not Mexico, but actually the United States of America. Now I wonder how many non-Anglo faces would be seen at that celebration?
