Mauling victim, wife, say thanks

Re: your Jan. 30 article, “Relatives say lion picked the wrong couple,� and your Jan. 29 article, “Mauled hiker faces additional surgery�:

As longtime residents of Camarillo, Jim and Nell Hamm retired to Fortuna, Calif., where they enjoyed hiking in the Redwoods. By now, Camarillo is aware that Jim was attacked by a mountain lion.

In a recent telephone conversation, Nell was most appreciative of the support they’ve received. She asked that a letter be placed in The Star stating: “Since it’s impossible to return calls, I wish to thank all our special friends for their prayers and concerns.�

May we continue to support them as Jim faces more surgery. And may God bless them through this traumatic experience.
