Gore has what it takes

I am a Democrat. When I look at Hillary Clinton, Obama Barack and John Edwards, I don't find all the qualities in any one of them that are going to be needed in the next administration. Nor do I find them in any other Democratic or Republican candidate.

Our next president will be left with a very messy war to deal with; an enormous deficit, if you count what has been spent in Iraq; a mandate to turn our country toward carbon neutrality; low standing in the international community and many other pressing issues such as healthcare, education, security and immigration. Much of what needs to be done will be very unpopular. With our voting population split, we need to assure that one party controls the White House and the Congress to effect the necessary changes.

Only one person has the skills to attempt such a monumental undertaking and is presently in a position to step into the race on a moment's notice. Experience, standing, a communicator, an effective campaigner, completely vetted, and tested in the trenches — Al Gore is our man.

Bruce,
I hope you're not serious. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your letter was an experiment in scarcasm.

Alas, I have a few questions. Where was I when we voted to pass a mandate for carbon neutrality? And if that is the goal, maybe Al should park his private jet. I guess could give him a break since he invented the internet.

He does have great solutions for our security and economy. First you get rid of the military. That'll save billions. Of course then there is the problem of being attacked and not being able to adequately defend ourselves. We'll just leave that up to the next republican president to worry about (stop me if you have heard this one before). Then you just tax the bejeezers out of everyone and presto, balanced budget. This will work for at least, I don't know, let's say eight years until the shrinking tax payer base and growing welfare ranks eclipse the higher tax rates and brings recession (again, stop me if you have heard this one before).

Here is what scares me the most. I want you to picture that scene from 9/11 when Pres. Bush took the bullhorn and stood on top of the firetruck and addressed the people still buried. Substitute Al Gore in for Bush. Here's how that speech would have gone.

"I hear you, we hear you, and soon the whole world will hear from all of us.... right after an environmental study on the effects of Daisy Cutters on Poppies grown in Afganistan. Then we will take an opinion poll in muslim countries on how they feel about us fighting back after we are attacked, because I really want them to be my friend. Hey, is the ice melting in my soda. Holy Crap, global warming is destroying cool tasty beverages everywhere. We just need to ask ourselves, What would Castro do?"

Hey Randal, if Gore had been president 9-11 would not have happened. Bush received many warnings that an attack was imminent. He chose to go on vacation rather than deal with it. Pres. Gore would have done something to stop the attack. Does anyone remember New years 2000? An attack was stopped because Clinton responded to warnings. End of story.

Right. Gore also would have prevented Hurricane Katrina and Christopher Reeves would be alive and walking. Of course with all that leadership ability, it's difficult to understand why they didn't prevent the first Trade Tower attack. I guess it would be difficult to concentrate with all of those hot interns running around the White House.

bush is a retardo and so is anyone that supports him !!

darn kool aid idiots

Hey jerk,(is that your real name?)
I hope you are not implying that I am a Bush supporter. That would be silly. He is not nearly conservative enough. The borders are still open. We are still spending money like it's going out of style. We should have flattened Iraq 3 years ago. But to say the AL "I invented the internet" Gore has what it takes to right this ship is silly. I would imagine that our 2008 election will go something like what just occurred in France. They were unhappy with Chirac, who happened to be from the country's conservative party. So did they flip and elect the Socialist? Nope! They found someone more conservative.
