Bible’s take on war

“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. – Ephesians 4:26-27

What about the war on terror?

The above quote was taken from the Bible. It clearly states how we as human beings have the right to be angry for all of the indignations and repulsive acts committed. We do not have the option to sin, though. Is not waging war on a country a sin?

Killing and bombing other countries and their inhabitants is sinful We as Americans should hold to our values and protest this outrageous war that our leader calls the only option. How can we invite this depravity into our daily lives? Some say that we were attacked and, therefore, we should attack. Those people attempt to disguise their true intentions by calling it justice. This war is not justice. It is revenge. Is not revenge a sin?

One of the Ten Commandments states that one shall love their neighbor, the way they love themselves. Is that what America is doing? Do we really love our neighbor? When we were attacked on Sept. 11, hundreds of innocent lives were brutally ended. When America bombs Iraq, many lives are also taken. Many of those lives are of innocent women and children. What right do we have to call them barbaric when we react in the same way they attacked us?

I am not a politic or an expert on war, but I have values. It is with my values that I live my life. Everyone makes mistakes. I have, but I can confront them and learn from them. Can you? Can our leader?

Separation of church and government - You can have all the values you want, but when you start quoting scripture to base your government policies on, then you have to be careful. Not only that, but you are not going to convince a lot of people that your argument is right. Once you start quoting your own scripture, then you have caused everyone who believes differently than you to tune out.

Also, there are plenty of scriptures in the Bible that indicates that God at times endorses war. After all, God commanding the Isrealites to wage war against other nations many times. Some of the scriptures even indicate that God wanted the Isrealites to kill every last man, woman, child and animals of their enemies.
