Re: your Oct. 26 article, “Aircraft grounded in early stages of state fires:
When I see U.S. Reps. Elton Gallegly and Dana Rohrabacher reply as to why the C-130 aircraft was not used, it makes one wonder, "Is this how the whole government functions?"
To think the newer C-130s came in without the new tanks is mind-boggling in the first place. That is one of the primary reasons they were purchased.
Secondly, the design offices of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Forest Service must be in the hands of children. To design the modules, did they not measure the inside of the newer C-130 aircraft, or at least get the measurements from the manufacturer before proceeding to build the modules?
Four years of delays, and still no tanks. What is going on?
To see the lame excuses offered by both congressmen, the Air Force and the Forest Service makes one wonder what and who is running the government.
Then I wonder, why aren’t the military helicopters that we have surrounding Southern California by the hundreds are not being utilized? Military is part of the emergency forces we have.
It is high time for the government to consider involvement of whatever resources are available. I have talked to a lot of people lately, and I can tell you most are fed up with the rationale being spewed forth from both politicians and military higher-ups. It is no wonder we cannot accomplish the simple task of helping each other with such actions being taken in Washington and Sacramento. Party affiliations are stifling the country, and the time for leadership is needed.
