Different kind of sex ed

The Star needs to be commended for presenting letters that inform the reader of both sides of the abortion controversy.

Is there a possible solution to bringing down the abortion rate in this country? Absolutely. It is time for every young man and young woman, in physiology and biology classes, to learn how to determine, precisely, the fertile and infertile phases of a woman's cycle. The benefits of natural family planning information, given to us by some of the most famous physicians in the world, are many.

After a woman charts, she can use this information for family-planning purposes. Teen-age girls can soon link up their sexual feelings to their fertility. During her week or so of fertility, she is very vulnerable to a sexual relationship. She learns any intercourse is likely to end in a pregnancy. When teens learn about the incredible amount of venereal diseases spread through sexual activity and are shown the video of a once-beautiful young women dying of AIDS, they are likely to want to wait for intimate sexual activity until they finish their education and go into a committed relationship through marriage.

Because this vital information is being kept out of the sex-education "Family Life" courses in favor of teaching the children the rudiments of mating, how to use inadequate methods of birth control and their "right" to an abortion in case of a failure, they are not likely to be given the truth.

So, Moms and Dads, seek out a teacher of natural family planning, go to the classes and then do your duty as chief educators of your offspring and teach them what you have learned or send them to the classes. It will be the best gift you can give them.
