Proposition 187 did pass

Re: Frank Moraga’s Jan. 25 essay, “Guess who’s back in town?:

Moraga is supposedly The Star’s director of diversity. Well, he exhibits his qualifications well. Evidently being anti-white and anti-Republican will score him points with some racist Latino organizations. It certainly has him in the driver’s seat at The Star.

In 1994, I voted for Proposition 187, the Save our State Initiative. However, the liberal federal courts overturned the initiative. Now look at the mess we’re in.

As an American of Mexican heritage, I speak from experience. Many Latinos are against rampant illegal immigration and many are not in favor of providing free health care, free education and other services. However, we do favor legal immigration and orderly citizenship — but get in line!

Moraga forgets that the initiative did pass! Does that not say anything?

Many Chicanos/Latinos have been fortunate in obtaining higher education by way of the University of California system or the California State University. The vast majority has been subjected to the left-wing liberal bias that our university system has to offer. In appreciation for this wonderful and inexpensive education, the public and taxpayers are rewarded with left-wing liberal and racist rhetoric such as Moraga’s essays.
