I have been in Oxnard for 45 years, and the traffic and building is out of control! Tim Flynn is the only one on the City Council who is not one of "the boys" and has the backs of the citizens of Oxnard. The others can't find enough room to put more cookie-cutter houses like the ones in northeast Oxnard and now RiverPark, all of which are two- to three-story homes, with no single-story houses.
We do not need any more affordable housing; we have plenty of foreclosures and short sales. Nor do we need more retail stores with no parking. The streets are in terrible shape, there's not enough money for parks, and traffic is terrible, along with the bad sequencing of the traffic lights, especially on Oxnard Boulevard.
Most the people I know are not happy with the quality of life brought on by out-of-control development.
I say we need more councilmen like Flynn and start saying no to developers who do not pay for the infrastructure surrounding their developments. How much growth is enough? When all our agricultural fields are gone?
Stop the madness now. Vote yes on Measure V.
