Re: Bill Thompson's Oct. 29 letter, "B.O. stinks:"
Barack Obama's initials are B.O., so Thompson uses the abbreviation for body odor to suggest the president "stinks." Welcome to first grade! Thompson's disrespect of the president says a lot about who he is. Maybe B.T. stands for "bigoted teabagger!"
Thompson disparages Obama over Iraq and Afghanistan -- leftover problems from the George Bush/Dick Cheney administration. Thompson criticizes the government's "control over big business" -- deregulation and the Bush administration's inattention put the U.S. close to a Great Depression. Obama might have had plenty of funds to reform healthcare and accomplish the change that the majority of us voted for, if not for two wars, tax cuts for the rich, the collapse of the financial sector and the crippling of the economy.
Bush/Cheney's cowboy attitudes alienated our allies and rallied our enemies. If Obama can mend some of those fences, we might not find ourselves fighting terrorism alone in the world. Despite Thompson's opinion, Bush/Cheney did some things for which America should be sorry. Cheney and his daughter continue to be the loudest hawks, but neither had the courage to join the armed forces!
Thompson is upset that the White House stated what everyone with any sense already knew: Most of Fox News is Republican propaganda. If Thompson and others like him weren't so outraged that their party lost the presidential election and control of the Congress, they would stop acting like griping children and act like Americans. This president is pulling us out of the mess the previous administration left, and we are on the road to recovery, despite the Party of No. Thompson gave us eight years of Bush/Cheney. He owes many of us an apology, and he proved to be no judge of our elected officials!
