Regarding Mr. Burrer's letter on undocumented workers getting drivers' licenses, if he really believes one has to be a U.S. citizen to obtain a license in California, he needs to check his facts or somebody should tell the DMV they've been breaking the law all this time.

I'm not sure what you mean? If you read the last column on page two it states the following: "until 1993, undocumented worker could get a drivers license in California." "The law changed that year, making it mandatory for residents to provide social security numbers and proof of California residency to get licenses." I'm sure that is a deterrent as it should be. I'm relying on the Star for accuracy. I would suggest you contact the Star and challenge the accuracy of that statement. Dick
You have the facts correct Mr. Burrer. If the DMV issues a license to an illegal alien, then that's their error. I'm sure that happens regularly unfortunately. Roger
