Rock 'n' Roll Call: Santigold - Master of my Make-Believe

Master of My Make-Believe

The latest from Santigold is "Master of My Make-Believe" - a clever title and it's on mighty, mighty Atlantic Records. Once upon a time, she was Santi White but now perhaps reflecting her musical success, Santigold is an all-over-the-place Philly singer/songwriter who seems comfortable and competent doing whatever she does. She's played with Coldplay, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, covered a song by the Jam and her favorite band is Devo. This one - her second - was co-produced by the TV On the Radio guy (Dave Steik) and was recorded in Jamaica, mon. There's some hip hop, some pop, some electronic stuff - invent your own adjectives but "Disparate Youth" and 'Freak Like Me" are most memorable.
