TimeOut: Ohio's Wussy will play Zoey's on June 20

If the band Wussy were a beer, it'd be Yuengling. Brewed since 1829, Yuengling is one of America's best -- and it's not available west of Ohio.

Wussy hasn't been around since the 1800s, but it's a great band from Cincinnati that folks out west don't know about. That should begin to change as the group makes the West Coast rounds, including a show Wednesday night at Zoey's in Ventura. Local rocker Aaron Orbit will open the show.

Wussy has five solid albums including the latest, "Strawberry," which would've been the perfect soundtrack last month in Oxnard. Village Voice music writer Robert Christgau calls Wussy "the best band in America." There is plenty to love about these indie rockers from the heartland and "Asteroids," the first one off the new CD, will make you an instant fan. It's Wussy galore, pretty much. Read more »
