Rock 'n' Roll Call: Spring Standards - Yellow/Gold

Yellow/Gold

The latest from the Spring Standards is "Yellow/Gold" and it's on Parachute Shooter Records. It's a folk rock trio that is touring with Rhett Miller, so let me say "Crap!" to that as they were just in Hell-A on 18 June - missed 'em before I heard 'em, so, oh well. It's sort of like Simon & Garfunkel with an added female voice - or not, but close enough for our purposes and you'll love Heather Robb's voice and the two guys named James make for some soaring three-part harmonies that are way cool as it's obvious you can't hide anyone in a trio. No "Homeward Bound" big smash but nothing close to a bad cut - solid throughout as these multi-instrumentalists are just cruising and taking our ears to places they'll like such as with "Only Skin" and "So Simple So True."
