The new self-titled album by Birdy should be up there on the Audubon Society's wish list of dream gigs along with the Byrds, the Eagles and the Yardbirds. Not only will her wily warbling not disturb our feathered friends, Warner Brother publicity big cheese, Rick Gershon, told me "She's gonna be a star." They don't always say that - actually, they hardly ever say that. He's right. Just look at the album cover - she doesn't even have to sing, but she does anyway. Pretty much a sad girl and a piano, Birdy will appeal to the ladies who like to snivel along with Tori Amos and Fiona Apple, and Birdy, actually Jasmine Van den Bogaerde, is only 15-years-old, so she's just taking off.
