Death Of A Decade

Ha Ha Tonka has a new one - whether or not they need a new name is another story - the album is "Death Of A Decade" and it's on Bloodshot Records out of Chicago. They band is out of Springfield, Mo. - home to one of my all-time faves, the Bottle Rockets. The band plays country/folk/indie rock. It's no laughing matter and they took their name from a park in Camdenton, Missouri. The album opener, "Usual Suspects," is about as catchy as it gets for a pop rock gem and may make you a fan of these red state rockers. Frontman Brian Roberts is most capable - political, too - a cancer survivor, he dissed the healthcare system (or lack of same) on a previous album. No American should go broke because they get sick - Rush Limbaugh and the other right wing tools already have great healthcare. Did I say, check out "Usual Suspects" and watch "Casablanca" (a movie full of usual suspects) whenever it's on? These guys will be at the El Rey in Hell-A Monday if you just happen to be down there.

He is the tall guy lurking in the back of all the local rock shows.
