Just because of the name, geezers would like Ponderosa because it brings back memories of that endless, mindless and senseless western, "Bonanza," enjoying the tough love of the Cartwrights on their ranch, the Ponderosa. Anyway, it's this Georgia band's second album - "Pool Party" and it's on New West. Out of Athens, Georgia, clearly not Southern Rock - this is more indie rock with some shoegazer rock, and maybe a bit of vintage R.E.M. and no Lynyrd Skynyrd. Gang vocals predominate on the slow ones, which are fairly interchangeable. The title tune, however, is a keeper - something the Stone Roses could be proud of - pool party music for a foggy day.
