Prolific and really funny blues guitar guy Jimmy Thackery will headline the second installment of the Sunday Blues Matinee Concert Series at High Street Arts Center in Moorpark. Thackery has more albums than there are pages in this darn fine Time Out section, so he shouldn't run low on tunes. Alastair Greene and the Mikey Mo Band also are set to perform at the show, which is presented by the Ventura County Blues Society.
Thackery, clearly not a Vaughan-a-be, is his own man after doing 20 with the Nighthawks, a legendary blues band out of the nation's capital, clearly a blues-inducing environment. Like countless sidemen before and after him, Thackery thought, "Hey, I can do that." As a solo act, he's released numerous albums on Blind Pig, then Telarc and now he's doing it all on his own.
