Rock 'n' Roll Call: Alejandro Escovedo - Big Station

Big Station

Veteran roots rock dude Alejandro Escovedo has another release - this one is "Big Station" and it's on Concord Records. Escovedo has clearly got the cred - he's been around since the punk rock days - was a member of cowpunk legends Rank & File - and has been a solo dude forever. This one, however is a clunker. The songs are totally generic, and not that good to begin with - I'm glad I didn't go to his recent show at Santa Barbara. Opener Jesse Malin is always great but I would've skedaddled after a few songs by the E-Man. Escovedo's albums are always full of solid songs with a few great ones - not this time.
