25 Years Of Rock 'N' Roll

With a name like the Bopcats, this band better be good - like the Rattlers and the Blasters - they are. Big time. This one is called "25 Years Of Rock 'N' Roll" and it's on Eller Soul Records. As the name would indicate, lots of experience, so evidently they're well rested because this is their debut album. It's a Richmond rockabilly, roots rock, old timey rock band that is about the best bar band you're likely to find - imagine the Morells from the East Coast. The Bopcats cite Elvis, Chuck Berry and Eddie Cochran as inspirations - they've also heard Dave Edmunds before and they even cover "Who Drank My Beer," made memorable by local sad Dodger fans, Tom Ball & Kenny Sultan. This is one of the best albums of 2012, especially if you listen to your feet that will react appropriately to this parent-scaring Satan music from some sweaty bar in 1957.

He is the tall guy lurking in the back of all the local rock shows.
