TimeOut: Chris Cain, other blues heavyweights will play at California Beer Festival Sept. 15-16

Beer bellies in the making will be filled, emptied and refilled this weekend when the California Beer Festival takes over Mission Park in downtown Ventura.

Saturday's the day for real elbow benders. Folks 21 and older can sample more than 130 craft beers, nosh on food and listen to a Michael Jackson tribute band.

On Sunday, it's a triple B scenario: beer, barbecue and blues. The all-ages Blues, Brews and BBQ Blues Festival will feature a barbecue cook-off and a lineup of great blues performers, including Michael John, Walter Trout, Rod Piazza, Chris Cain, Crossfire and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. If the beer is half as good as the band lineup, then everybody wins.
