There's a new Reel Big Fish album, "Candy Coated Fury" and it's on Rock Ridge Records. The album title is exactly on target - this is bouncy bile, ska style. Check out some of the tune titles - "Everyone Else Is An A**hole," "Your Girlfriend Sucks," or "I Know You Too Well To Lie Anymore" and "I Love/You Suck" and lots more in a similar not nice (but pretty darn fun) vein. Remember the bouncy Creedence song "Bad Moon Rising"? It was upbeat music with downbeat lyrics - Reel Big Fish does that for an album, but aiding their cause exponentially is the fact that they're one of the best pop/punk/ska bands in the world with perfect vocals by Aaron Barnett and that happening horn section always shreds so perfectly. Many of these songs will be dedicated to Miss Take or Mr. Wrong for years to come. If you read this in time, the band is playing Friday night (12 October) at the venerable Ventura Theatre with Less Than Jake.
