Rock 'n' Roll Call: Shiny Toy Guns - III

III

Shiny Toy Guns has returned with a third helping of alternative rock from Hell-A - the album is "III" and it's on Five Seven Music and marks the return of the original star of the show - front gal Carah Faye Charnow - absent from the last effort. Nice looking young lady fronting a rock band? Nah - never work. Anyway, the band has been at it for a decade now and appears to be running out of songs as few of these ditzy techno pop rockers have what it takes for you to want to hear this stuff again. For example, "Waiting Alone," a bummer we've all unhappily endured, is more whiny than angry - as it shouldn't be. This album is competent, if uninspired, so back to Songwriting 101 for this band. And cops don't care about the "Toy" part should be find yourself in such a dangerous situation - there's a word for that (three, actually) Suicide By Police.

He is the tall guy lurking in the back of all the local rock shows.
