ONCE AGAIN PROVING they put their rhetoric before the good of their country, rightwing pundits set the bar so low today even a cockroach couldn't crawl under it.
This is Rush Limbaugh's official reaction to the news that our president was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize:
"Our president is a worldwide joke. Folks, do you realize something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about -- and that is he doesn't deserve the award? Now that's hilarious, that I'm on the same side of something with the Taliban."
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid had of course earlier in the day issued a statement from the usual "undisclosed location" condemning the award. At the same time, U.S.- and NATO-backed Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai called the award "appropriate."
"His hard work and his new vision on global relations, his will and efforts for creating friendly and good relations at global level and global peace make him the appropriate recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize," Karzai's spokesman Siamak Hirai said.
So whose side does Limbaugh take? The guy in the cave. Even Rush addicts must be feeling a little icky now.
William Kristol, whose mouth must be permanently stuck in a pucker from sucking on sour grapes since the neoconservative movement bombed, was of course equally indignant.
BUT A LOT OF US voted for Barack Obama for exactly the same reason the Nobel Committee did:
"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future."
The committee's decision was unanimous and reflects its predilection toward multilateralism, a word likely missing from our last president's vocabulary.
It's time to give peace (and our new president) a chance.

Some conservatives are playing the race card:
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/10/09/erickson-nobel/
Sociopath Glenn Beck said a group he helped to create deserved the award.
What can you expect from Limbaugh? He wants to segregate school buses:
http://mediamatters.org/limbaughwire/2009/09/15#0023
These trash talkers want you to write about them. Because then Republicans will be so mad you did they will listen to them more.
ONce a big fat stupid idiot, always a big fat stupid idiot.
I'm always impressed with accomplishment, but never with just words. So far Obama is just words as far as I can tell. If you believe otherwise then please point out to me just one place in the world where peace has been achieved or has come closer to being achieved because of something Obama has done.
I stand ready to give credit where credit is due. But words alone do nothing without actions following them. Where is the accomplishment?
The US is FAR more respected in the world then under Bush. That is a BIG accomplishment.
This article mentions right-wingers being more concerned about their own agenda than the good of the country. There are a few right-wingers in my life who I truly believe will be secretly happy if another terrorist attack occurs on US soil so that they can say, "See? Told ya so!" about my voting for Obama. One of them, so ignorant that he just assumed I agreed with him, admitted it out loud the day after election day last year: "I can't wait for another terrorist attack to see what all these morons who voted for him will have to say"
jw,
I'd rather be safer than we were in the past than more respected. I've never noticed the rest of the world looking out for our interest. Yet we have defended half the world for all of my lifetime and what does it get us? It gets us the graves of U.S. soldiers who stormed the beaches at Normandy to save their worthless butts from the Nazis, desecrated by fools who couldn't hold a candle to even one of those same soldiers. We have borne the largest part of the cost of NATO since its inception. We pay the U.N 25% of its operating budget every year while they call us stingy for sending the only worthwhile aid that went to Indonesia after the Tsunami -- ships of the U.S. Navy, well prepared to handle massive casualties -- ships costing the taxpayers more than 3 million dollars a day to operate. The U.N. by comparison sent bigwigs to Jakarta to stay in five-star hotels, demand 24 hour catering service and meet with everyone to "coordinate" everything. And when some U.N. people finally showed up where the dirty work was going on they were more interested in getting our people to wear U.N. colors than anything else.
If they can't respect us for what we've done for so many years to save their worthless behinds from their own mistakes, then what is their respect worth now? I've resisted saying this for a long time, but Obama is nothing but a worthless incompetent blowhard. If he changes and actually accomplishes something toward peace, I'll give him credit. But I won't hold my breath waiting for it to happen.
This award insults men like Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela who fought for what they believed in when it could have easily cost them their lives. And it did ultimately cost Dr. King his life. Barack Obama can't hold a candle to either one.
I'm tired of this respect nonsense. They don't respect us. They want us to kiss their behind.
George W Bush was tired of "respect nonsense " also. The end result was over 4500 lives lost and over 1 TRILLION dollars when it is all paid for.
Well, Roy, things could be worse. At this stage in George Bush's presidency he had allowed the largest single terrorist attack on American soil to happen.
We can hope the Republican Party and its ilk continue to make moronic statements and obsolete themselves right out of existence.
Then what is left may be able to move forward and attempt to deal with the real world problems without birthers and free marketers.
Marie,
I hope you can describe for me exactly how it is that George Bush "allowed" the largest single terrorist attack on American soil to happen. That stretches your credibility a little too far. First you can't or won't recognize sarcasm when you see it and so are willing to say Rush Limbaugh sides with the Taliban. But he doesn't side with them. He simply used that as a metaphor for his disgust and anger at the award Obama doesn't by any means deserve. I certainly share his disgust and anger. And now, 9/11 is George Bush's fault.
As usual for the left, your ideas have been tried over and over again throughout Europe and elsewhere and have always led to economic stagnation and nations that now want to appease the likes of Iran because they've become fat, dumb and lazy with their entitlements. Just for added emphasis, California is bankrupt because of your control of the legislature. We are the last defense the world has against these maniacs and if we give up, look for nuclear bombs going off soon. And right now we're giving up. Obama appears ready to pull out of Afghanistan. And if Afghanistan falls then Pakistan falls soon afterward and the radicals have their hands on a readymade nuclear arsenal. Use your heads for something better than a paperweight. The world is not as you imagine it. We defend those who say they now respect us, even to this day. Yet if they had to foot that bill themselves they would collapse under the weight of it because their economies are so taxed and stretched. They ration healthcare because they can't foot the bill for everyone anymore, much less can they defend themselves. If we quit the world changes for the worse and the change is likly to be permanent.
Sorry, but no more pulling my punches. We're in a war whether you like it or not.
"I hope you can describe for me exactly how it is that George Bush "allowed" the largest single terrorist attack on American soil to happen. That stretches your credibility a little too far."
FACT: US intelligence KNEW a large operation was being planned by the terrorists OVER 3 months prior to 9/11. They did not know the precise details but it was known that in the past that Al Qaeda tended to focus on planes and airports. Bush received an intelligence briefing while on one of his frequent vacations in July 2008 about what was known. He was briefed on Al Qaedas long history of targeting planes. Rather than order US airports on increased alert he did nothing and just continued on vacationing. It is quite possible that had increased security been instituted in July 2008 that some or all of the attacks could have been averted.
" Use your heads for something better than a paperweight. The world is not as you imagine it. "
ROTFLMAO!! Coming from someone who has supported FAILED right wing economics and the worst economic mess in 70 years that is just downright laughable Roy.
You guys are nuts, nothing you say is factual, all hope and idealism, mixed with inexplicable anger. How about some reasonable dissent for crying out loud you all sound like children...amazing.
"You guys are nuts, nothing you say is factual, :
Not if your head is so screwed up from watching fictional FauX News. Right wingers are unable to differentiate fact from fiction.
I hope the rest of world thinks we're nicer now. Especially Europe. I hope Iran won't use their nukes, unless they feel they must, against Israel. I hope the Taliban sees we don't mean them any harm. What they do to their women is none of our business!
jw,
What is your source for your FACT? I know of no such FACT. There were a lot of clues but our intelligence people were asleep at the switch and didn't put 2 and 2 together to get to the right conclusion.
Hell, Obama said he would let the Taliban back into afghan government.....after all these americans died getting rid of them...and that is no joke.
The nobel peace prize is totally worthless and it went to a guy who is totally worthy of it.
The Nobel Peace prize is what it is. Europeans voting on European priorityies. They feel they will be safer with President Obama in office. Good for them. It doesn't mean that I can't laugh at both him and his staff for nominating him after 2 whole weeks in office and the Nobel committee for awarding the prize to him (remember, applications were due 1 Feb 2009).
BTW,
In my opinion President Obama has a decent Foreign Policy plan. Unfortunately the problem is that I am uncertain whether he will be able to stay the course with it and so far his inability to make a decision on Afghanistan is not helping my confidence.
My thoughts:
1. Relationship with Arab nations - His speech in Egypt was a solid start in improving US relations in that are of the world. Will he and his team be able to walk that fine line of stick and carrot with Middle East countries though because above all the inherent nature of the region is to respect strength and if we (the US) move to far away from a position of strength we will be seen as simply an annoyance.
2. Relationship with Russia - If theory holds that he traded European Ballistic missile defense for Russia's help with Iran is true then I think it was a smart move. The system as planned had limited viability except against a couple of missiles and was not popular with the people of the countries involved. The system as envisioned will have a much greater capability in the long run (as well as be more affordable), and Russia will put pressure on Iran.
3. Relationship with Israel - Interesting one here. I "think" that playing more hardball with them will help our relationship with the Arab nations and will not hurt our relationship with Israel in the long term as let's face it, there still is no better friend to Israel than the US.
4. Relationship with Europe - OK, not a bad thing that they like us better, but let's be honest...big deal. Until it translates to European nations helping to police the world more than they do now, then it just doesn't mean much.
5. Relationship with China - Don't know. Another fine line here between strength and partnership would be best, but I can't get a read on what path the President is taking.
Anyway simply some thoughts regarding the peace prize and Foreign policy. Personally I am much more concerned about the massive socialist state being created in America by the current politicians in DC.
Well jw, no answer? I guess it isn't a fact after all.
With heads solidly hidden where the sun doesn't shine you march full speed ahead. You imagine what the world should be like and then you try to act like it really is that way. Too bad it isn't.
"We all agree with the Taliban and Iran" ( and a lot of others ) that Obama does not deserve the Nobel ( he's in good company - neither did Jimmy Carter, Al Gore or Yassar Arafat ).
The Taliban have far more in common with Keith Olbermann, a talker totally without humor: both think coalition forces are terrorists; love to report body counts of dead Americans; and hate George W. Bush. At least Rush never made the racially insensitive statements he was accused of.
J-Lo and Serena Williams, both minority owners of the Miami Dolphins, love and are allowed to publicly use profanity-laced slurs without so much as a tut-tut from Goodell: the former using the "N-word" publicly and frequently; the latter publicly using the F-word and threats against a judge in a recent tennis match she lost. NFL player rep. DeMaurice Smith was one of D'Ohbama's biggest campaign people and was reported in the WSJ as wanting to get leverage over Goodell for generating player raises.
By the way, Marie, the address for Impeachobamacampaign.com is
30011 Ivy Glen Drive, Suite 223, Laguna Niguel, CA 92677. Their motto is from Sister Tammy Bruce: " Unabated malevolence toward the country, which is unabated".
Definition for an impeachable offense: " whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history".
Marie, jw, where are you?
I guess that some authentication of a claim made here is a little too much to ask.
It seems that George Bush didn't allow the largest single terrorist attack on American soil to happen after all. Otherwise you could offer up a source of factual information justifying that conclusion. But you can't.
You lose my respect when you make an accusation and can't support it. Marie, you lose my respect when you attack Rush Limbaugh for what clearly can only be political reasons. Shame on you both!
I've confronted you with a simple challenge that you should not only be able to answer, but willing to answer and you failed.
What angers me is this: You make what amounts to an accusation of criminal negligence against a former president without being able to justify it. You impugn Limbaugh's reputation without the slightest bit of truth to support you. Then expect to never be called to account for yourself about it. What has happened to basic honesty?
The search for the Wikipedia libelist responsible for damaging posts directed toward Rush Limbaugh has been traced to the IP address located at a NYC law firm which contributed over $100,000.00 to Obama's campaign and an additional $60,000.00 to Moveon.org and Emiliy's list. The IP address is 69.64.213.146 and is located in the offices of Patterson, Belknap Webb and Tyler LLD. This IP address was responsible for also sending out damaging information from 2005 to the present on other prominent conservatives. This does not mean the law firm did it. One of the members of the firm has been appointed to a very high position in the Obama Dept. of Justice. This matter relates directly to the application of Limbaugh to become an NFL owner. If this law firm is implicated, we will all have to buy tremendous amounts of popcorn and watch as Rush's atty. Roy Black drains their particular financial network of all its net worth.
Oh, please. I can't believe you just tried to shame me for attacking Rush Limbaugh "for political reasons." The guy eats, lives and breathes attacking others for political reasons.
He's inflammatory, mean-spirited, and an admitted drug addict. I have nothing good to say about him.
As far as Bush goes, you must acknowledge that 911 happened on his watch. Draw your own conclusions about culpability. But many, including Richard Clarke, President Bush’s former chief counterterrorism adviser, believe more could've been done.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4639380/
So far Obama has kept us safe.
The term "attacking others for political reasons" might equally well apply to such a gnome as Rahm " Twinkle Toes" Emanuel, Keith " Overbite" Olbermann and a large group of equally humorless Democrat Hacks/Partyites. I and millions of other Americans find Rush to be quite amusing and knowledgeable at the same time. As to your tangential attempt to suggest 9/11 "happened on Bush's watch" and "Obama has kept us safe" coupled with your rather naive assertions as to the credibility of Richard Clarke, I offer this: The 9/11 failure of information lay strictly at the feet of one Jamie Gorelick ( a 9/11 Commission member clearly with a conflict of interest while on that committee ), who wrote the 1995 "wall" memorandum ( under the tutelage of another wack job known as Janet Reno ) which prevented the FBI and CIA from communicating with each other on FISA matters ( suggest you look it up ) - hence, the failure during the 70 days of the Bush Administration prior to 9/11 for all intelligence people to cross-reference their information. Richard Clarke knew this full well when testifying and was accused of grandstanding to sell his new book. Gorelick went on to oversee much of the corruption at Fannie Mae and generated the nickname " Mistress of Disaster" for her efforts.
Even the Palestinians have given up on Obama, Marie, and that's saying something.
Rush is what he is. But your blog was based on hot air, Marie. You cannot justify one irresponsible statement by reference to another. Rush is as abrasive as anyone I've ever seen and he hurts the conservative cause a lot. But please don't try to justify yourself by reference to him. It won't fly. Otherwise I'll throw Keith Olberman in your face -- your own rabid dog.
Yes, 9/11 happened on Bush's watch. But here's the problem -- you try to pass off subjective opinion as though it was objective fact, demonstrable to anyone who wants to look. It just ain't so! Otherwise you could back up what you said with something better than, "...911 happened on his watch."
Neither Bush will ever be my favorite president. But George W. didn't deserve the derision and character assassination that was directed at him. If you want to complain about something, complain about his grab for the phone records of everyone in the whole country. That one is right off the Richter scale. He had a court -- unfortunately secret -- that he could go to for authority to get those records. But he didn't because he knew that not even his secret court would swallow it. That one is a real objective fact.
I wasn't going to address your comment, "So far Obama has kept us safe." But I've changed my mind. Here's a question: What happened to all those years that Bush kept us safe?
Obama continues to keep in place the policies bequeathed to him by Bush -- and much to his credit. But if they work for Obama then they also worked for Bush. So let's say goodbye to this messianic nonsense about Obama and get a grip on reality. He is not God's gift to the human race and George Bush was not Satan. Both men put their pants on just one leg at a time like the rest of us. Both men fail at foresight as we all do. Hindsight, on the other hand, is always 20/20. Unfortunately it's also too late to be useful.
john stewart, you have it nailed down nicely. Unfortunately facts don't move the people who most need to be moved.
As for Rush, he gets it right just about 100%, but his presentation turns off the people he most needs to convince. In the end he's just what he's claimed to be all along, an entertainer. I think he's not doing the conservative cause any real good any more than the fool who wore his pistol to a meeting where the president would be. He is fun though!
"...but his presentation turns off the people he most needs to convince...in the end he's an entertainer."
You underestimate this man at your peril. Rush's style is acerbic tongue-in-cheek humor. The inability to recognize tongue-in-cheek humor, particularly on the left, is pathetic. Yet, there is perpetual irrational anger among those within a party which "won". Rush is the original Stephen Colbert. He is humorous and savvy. Roman Oben, a black Washington Post staffer, admitted on tape that Rush's political views toward Obama were key in the spreading of false statements about him, which led Al Sharpton to brag on tape how his efforts had kept Rush out of the NFL. It costs $50000.00 to buy an "interest" in Sharpton's "National Action Network" - the members are: American Honda, Anheuser Busch, Ford, Home Depot, Johnson and Johnson, Macy's, Pepsico, Pfizer, and Walmart. Those firms participated in the ostracism of Rush from the NFL. This will be very exciting to watch. Interestingly, Stacy Ann Ferguson, aka "Fergie" of the "Black-eyed Peas" singing group, and a big Obama fan, whose reputation is that of a "sleazy pop diva", was just granted approval for a minority share ownership in the Miami Dolphins. Rush says he's learned more about women from having a cat around who only wants him when it needs to be fed. He has also said that women live longer because they do njot have to work as hard; and that many women "would love to be hired as eye candy". Perhaps the intelligent thing to do if you wanted to "beat" Rush would be to do so in the arena of ideas: so far the left hasn't figured that out yet: he wins every time because he injects humor into the mix and libs only react. It's hilarious.
It's not even been one year since Obama has been in office! The United States government is so corrupt, it's a lot harder to cut the strings of the puppet masters than one would like to think. Instead of it about being who's side is right versus whose side is wrong, it should be about solving the damn problem in the first and last place.
John,
I'm not sure whether you agreed or disagreed with me. I don't think I underestimate him and I think what I said meets the description you've given. In any case Marie is right in one sense, Rush can eat a fool for breakfast, lunch or dinner without breaking a sweat. But let's face one thing -- we need to be convincing people and Rush doesn't help there. We need to be getting our country back out of the hands of the children who own it right now. And it isn't going to be easy.
But Rush was not my subject. Not to be a bore, but when someone who publishes online in my own hometown newspaper, one I've subscribed to since 1969 when it was still the Thousand Oaks News Chronicle (and a better paper than the Star) and who has the implicit approval of the Star's editor and publisher, goes off on an attack with nothing but hot air behind it, I get ticked off. She has a responsibility to be more circumspect than that. What she says has some weight with her audience and she blew it.
---------------------------------------
Justine,
Obama is the president, there are 50 senators and even more representatives and they are responsible for looking after the people's business. I'd be ecstatic if they would actually solve the damned problems. Instead we get a president obsessed with rewriting healthcare from the ground up, obsessed with running his country down by apologizing all over the globe (as if we had not saved and then defended most of their sorry butts for the last 68 years {our entry into WWII was in 1941} while waiting for the French to grow up the miscreants who desecrated the graves of the men who died storming the beaches at Normandy to do the saving -- but of course, we should apologize). He's obsessed with image (including his own), totally unable to make decisions that might make him unpopular with his base and determined to talk everyone to death. He's picked the finest tactician available, General McChrystal, to handle the job in Afghanistan, but won't even talk to him until he's shamed into it by the publicity about his failure to do so. Now if I was president and I had personally selected my man for the job I'd be anxious to talk to that man constantly. Wouldn't you?
I should not have to mention that his own party in congress is chomping at the bit to help him screw it all up.
So please talk to DC with your complaint, not to me. I can't control what any of them are doing. I wish I could, but I can't.
Sorry, Roy just because we don't agree doesn't mean I blew it.
First of all, calling our president a worldwide joke is just beyond the pale.
But aligning his opinion with the Taliban over the considered opinion of the Nobel committee and Karzai is just over the top. Think about this for a moment.
And just so you understand this, the Star's bloggers are not controlled in any way by the editorial staff of the Star. We write opinion only and are paid next to nothing or nothing. I don't even think they read what we write most of the time.
Honestly, I have no idea why I do this. It started out as a creative outlet and now feels like a chore. I have about the same enthusiasm these days for it as I do for cleaning up the yard after my dog.
Anyway, I appreciate that you post and like your honesty.
Marie,
Think what a chore it was for your ancestors. We have an opportunity to battle them now with truth and reason. Keep pounding on them your doing a good job and your one of the reasons we are winning.
OK Student. I'll hang in there.
So you want to come over and help me pick up after my dog, too?
:-)
Justine: I think everyone, especially the younger generation, is receiving a lesson: the people are the ones who run this country and it is the people who need to be discerning about who they elect and how to discern truth from fiction among candidates - otherwise everyone will become cynical.
Roy: I agree with you and understand what you are saying. I'm simply suggesting Rush has reached more people than you may realize- that he is quite convincing to literally millions.
One good thing is that Obama being president is forcing the populace to examine right from wrong - to evaluate what it is truly that they want from government - and what they do not want: they do not want his version of healthcare, but they want the healthcare situation made better. The retaking back of this country will be easier than you, Roy, think. Just think of how Jimmy Carter screwed things and how ready America was for Reagan.
On Marie: Marie is a person devoted to liberal causes and gives it her best shot, but the issues are a bit more complex
than she is sometimes willing to address. She is doing her best. She needs our help.
Roy: there are two times 50 senators instead of 50 ( I'm sure you knew that ). Much of Obama's behavior can be traced to some of his traits - some of which are present because he never had a father in his life as he matured. He is a narcissist ( there is a good explanation of this group of personality types on the Mayo Clinic website ) and that has some unique problems when such a type is placed in authority. He is also a Marxist, or has serious Marxist propensities ( read Saul Alinsky - "Rules for Radicals" - for an explanation of his and Rahm Emanual's motivation ) as are most of his czars and czarinas. He is denigrating our country and ruining our economy intentionally [ I'm not crazy - read Mark Levin ("Liberty and Tyranny" ) - #1 NYTimes bestseller - and a heavy duty constitutional lawyer who has tried many cases before the US Supreme Court ]. A campaign has begun to impeach Obama ( see earlier entry ) and many in the military and law enforcement ( who are sworn to defend the Constitution from "enemies foreign and domestic " ) are beginning to discuss revolution. So this has become very serious to many many people including yourself.
I think this particular issue is pretty cut and dried, John. I don't need much of your conservative wisdom and clarity here.
Rush Limbaugh is a jerk.
It's real simple.
Again, Marie, if you want to "beat" Rush, your goals would best be served in the arena of ideas. Let's see some wisdom on your allegedly high-minded site, instead of "...... is a jerk".
John,
Rush Limbaugh and wisdom at the same time? She's good but she's not that good. Why don't you give us you're reasons for loving the man?
Marie,
I think you don't understand Rush at all and I think you're out of touch right around the world except with those who agree with your point of view. Now nothing is wrong with paying attention to those who agree with you. I do that too. But there are so many around the world, including the president of France, who don't think Obama is so great at all. And you seem to be missing the other half of the story. I look around at what the Democrats and their supporters are saying and doing so I know what's really going on.
As for Rush, he uses humor and sarcasm to make points. His saying that Obama is a world wide joke is one I haven't heard of yet. But to very many of us that's an accurate description. We're looking for him to pay attention to critical things like a war on two fronts, an economy gone south that his stimulus just isn't helping...a long list that he's just not handling.
I understand that you don't like Rush. And that doesn't bother me a bit; you get to decide for yourself. I understand that you like President Obama. That's Ok with me too. And you can say so to the whole world and I might make no comment about it or offer up a reason why I think you're wrong. I try to be thought provoking. You know exactly what I'm getting at because you know exactly what I think about taxation and how it should and shouldn't be done, since you've had that conversation with me on this blog. We don't agree, but that's not grounds for anything but discussion. So now I have to wonder why you seem to believe Rush is not entitled to his opinion, which after all is exactly what it is, just his opinion. Consider: to some of us the president's apologizing all over the world is just as far out of line as you think Rush's statements are. And in the end Rush is just a talking head on the radio, but Obama is president and needs to show a lot more respect for his own country instead of kissing up to the rest of the world. We are his concern, not Europe, Asia, Africa or anywhere else.
But the real issue is that you made an accusation against Rush that isn't true. It's false at face value. No research needed to know that Rush does not side with the Taliban. It's dishonest! And dishonesty is a pernicious toxic brew that poisons everything it touches.
Rush is a master at taking what his detractors throw at him and turning it into money in his bank account. He eats them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you don't like him it would be much better to ignore him than to give him the fuel that drives his whole career.
I've not enjoyed doing this but I was compelled to speak up. So let's make this the end of it. You've put up a lot of fine articles and I hope you keep it up.
John,
You got me -- wishful thinking I guess. But just imagine how much money could be saved every year if the number of senators was cut in half.
Your other points are known to me also. But my issue was with the charge against Rush.
I'm sure that he does convince some, but it seems likely that he peaches to the choir a lot more.
I would be a lot happier if I stopped getting complaining emails from Michael Steel and started seeing the party finding a good leader and start talking facts to the public. Right now I don't see a good Republican candidate for 2012. I'd like to have Giuliani to vote for, but he got out gracefully. No one likes to hear the truth I guess, but, "Blow in my ear and I'll follow you anywhere." Lord, that Laugh-In line was a long time ago. I'm too old for this stuff anymore.
There's some organization getting started, but I don't get time to keep up with every last detail, so maybe things are better than I think.
Keep up the good fight. I'm going to sign off on this one.
I was not always a member of Rush's "choir". I voted for Nixon over Kennedy, who won by a mere 90,000 votes nationally and the difference was said to be made up of dead Chicagoans, courtesy of the Daley machine. Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann have just blamed Geo. Bush Sr. & Roger Ailes for "starting" the current "attack politics" in this country. They are just babies. In fact, I recall the Democrat-controlled media "starting" what we now experience as attack politics - Goldwater was a rightwing extremist, Gerald Ford couldn't walk, chew gum and was stupid( though he was my Dad's football coach and turned down the Packers and the Bears to attend law school at Yale - he was a blue collar guy ), Reagan was lazy and stupid and George W. was handed the job. Right now the Left and the Establishment Right are both scared of the Conservatives - that's what Michael Steele is afraid of. 2,000,000 of them showed up on 9/12 in D.C. - I was there - Marie was not. The academic community in this country is overloaded with the Left. They and all libs think the same way. They get into their pseudo-intellectual rut while within academe. Whenever I start to challenge their groupthink, it makes the whole blog better and a lot more contribute. Well, Rush did not go to college and neither did Hannity - so they are both lucky politically. They were not overridden with militant feminism, multiculturalism and groupthink ( aka PC ) - all intellectual garbage and intellectually dishonest. Rush, Huckabee and Palin all represent the majority of the citizens of this country - and none would consider themselves "republicans" in the Michael Steel sense. That's why Rahm Emanuel is freaking out and going ballistic against Fox - Fox has huge numbers of Independents, Conservatives, Democrats and Republicans as listeners. In addition, we older folks have also all just been radicalized by this idiot in the Whitehouse. Lord Monckdon, a former member of the Thatcher cabinet and a major expert on global warming ( it's a hoax issue for libs around the world to replace the Cold War as an issue ), says he has read the document D'Ohbama will sign in December - it relinquishes all US sovereignty to a world order - the end of this country as a free land - got it, now Student Dipstick ? Lord Monckdon signs off with a quote by Churchill from Longfellow as the US embarked on WWII - " Sail on oh ship of state...." We need prayer for protection from this narcissist fool and crew of pirates. Those who are seeking transparency in government, something D'Ohbama promised ( on tape ) but promptly forgot about, are being hammered by the D'Ohbama Thugocracy - Beck, Fox and Limbaugh. Limbaugh has been doing this since D'Ohbama was pretending he was a Hawaiian surfer with a natural at Oxy and he will happily take down Sharpton, the NFL and the Whitehouse in a triple play.
John,
RE: - got it, now Student Dipstick ?
A Bush Republican talking about transparency in government? Cheney had a secret division of the C.I.A. that only answered to him. Bush claimed Presidential previlege at every turn and you are complaining about President O'bama not being transparent?
Are you sure you want to be a stand up comedian?
There isn't a healthcare program on Earth that could save the Republican party. Rush Limbaugh is just the minister giving the eulogy now.
The discussion gets rather disjointed between 3 and 6 AM. Are we having trouble sleeping, S.D. ?
Student,
Obama himself will end up saving the Republican party at the rate he's going. Get your head out into the sunshine and take a good look around. For everyone who showed up in DC -- whatever the number was -- there are a whole lot more who couldn't make it. The polls have Obama sinking again. And you guys just love polls, do you not? So read the numbers.
Hatred and dishonesty do not serve you or your cause any more than they serve anyone else. You cannot succeed that way where the people still have the means to communicate. That's why the White House and CNN are now on a vendetta against Fox News (read, "They fear the truth."). But the cat is now out of the bag. Obama is a sinking ship. Perhaps you can offer to bail out the water?
And now I really am gone from this particular topic.
Let me see. Bush let 911 happen, started two worthless wars that have cost trillions of dollars, let our economy go down the tubes, and is widely regarded as the worst president of all time and you two Faux News/Rush Limbaugh junkies are ready to proclaim Obama a failure for failing to completely clean up Bush's mess in a few months. Nice.
Roy quit playing the violin for Limbaugh. That sack of crap is laughing all the way to the bank.
Skip, in a matter of months I have yet to see one sensible comment from you on any subject. Were you beaten regularly as a child ?

I hope Obama lives up to the Nobel Peace Prize he got. I hope we don't get attacked again. I hope we pull out of this recession and I hope the Chinese don't stop buying our debt. I hope race relations improve - Hey! Don't people realize we have a black president? We're sorry for all the awful things our country used to do, but we're good now!
Like I said: " jack and squat "
Most of this laundry list are either bills already done and "signed" by Mr. Obama because of the timing of the Congressional approvals or very oppressive new bills which his
" reparations is not enough" mindset kind of salivates over - ie it's "getting even for our past social inequities " time, to wit:
1. Childrens' Health Matter: Saddles taxpayers with $32 billion extra over next 4 years for children's SCHIP program for children in poverty and those of illegal aliens. Who's gonna pay for this ?
2. DTV Delay matter: Obama ran out of free vouchers for subsidizing converter boxes, so he postpones the pre-set implementation of the new technonogy. To heck with the people involved in putting it together and their deadlines.
3. Lilly Ledbetter: Great law and I notice the local female lib politicianettes love to jump into their Priuses and onto her bandwagon - she did all the work and they love to go along for the ride.
4. American Recovery ........: aka the "Stimulus". He signed it. Where the heck is it ?
5. Omnibus Public Lands Matter: This is where the Dems screw the rest of the taxpaying public - disallowing the public from using their own lands for energy production and making it a crime to dig for fossils. This is a Diane Frankenstein lovefest tied in with the "endangered" and the "specious". One million acres of Wyoming natural gas area is disallowed from being used for drilling. And you, Marie, and your common sense-challenged friends like this idea ?
6. Ted Kennedy act: will allow 250,000 bodies to do God-knows-what in the name of "public service". Sounds brown shirtian to me.
7. Fraud Enforcement matter: Another camel's nose under the tent into healthcare, though may clean up some of the phony billing issues.
Nothing other in the list is of note , except help for credit card holders, the already-expired cash for clunkers, and the weapons system deal. Even the smoking deal is a license to steal for Marlboro. So D'Ohbama pulled out his Papermate a dozen times and signed his name: must be a hard worker.
And predictably no comment whatsoever from Mr. Stewart on the Bush legacy of ruin.
To: B. Legacy
Much of what you cite, in your puerile laundry list, as faults of Pres. Bush, I find to be rather wholesome and salutary character traits. Many of your petticisms ( my word ) derive from an apparent lack of spiritual discernment coupled with a blind spot concerning the reality that this is a right-of-center ( except, apparently, at your house ) nation. The morning-after pill, Sciavo, stem cells, Roberts and Alito presidential decisions are all a result of Bush's conservative ( and sensible ) views - the views of most Americans - black, white, brown, Democrat, Republican. I remind you that over 50,000 died in our most recent Democrat war - Vietnam. I apologize for Bush that he was not standing in the middle of New Orleans when Katrina hit, but he thought the female governor of Louisiana had some leadership skills - unfortunately, neither she nor the mayor of New Orleans did - and now Louisianans have elected their first Republican governor in history as a result, after decades of uber-corrupt Democrat, Chicago-type "leadership". We all know ( but, apparently, for yourself ) that Abu Ghraib was a construct of 8-10 goofy US Army enlisted reservists who have since gone to jail. There was nothing about it which implicated the rest of US personnel in Iraq. You insult hundreds of thousands of dedicated military patriots by suggesting as much. Bush's tax cuts which you ignorantly complain about resulted in 50 consecutive months of economic growth during his presidency. The 879 days of "vacation" you cite re. Bush are the days away from the White House - mostly working offsite. I guess you weren't aware that he was working. So far, D'Ohbama has a net loss of 6 million jobs to his credit, is a Class A weenie concerning Afghanistan, and has so far alienated the Europeans, the Chinese, the Russians,
but not Daniel Ortega, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez or that goombah currently "running" Iran. All the best, there Mr. Legacy.
O'Quinn: Don't let Democrat Guilt overtake you. It is their stock-in-trade. 500,000 Americans of all backgrounds gave their lives in the Civil War - mostly to bring this country back together. This was a giant price. Obama has said publicly "reparations aren't enough". So what, candidly, do he and his "czars" want ? Several years ago on C-Span one could view the first steps of American black race-baiters, with the help of Japanese-American lawyers, who represented WWII Japanese-American internees in their $20,000.00-each "reparations" claims against the US government for the "injustices" perpetrated on them in WWII, begin setting up their claims process against the US government for slavery. They do not include the original sellers of the slaves - the Africans ( or their descendants ), or the middlemen - the English slavetraders - or the financiers - the English banks. America, unlike any other country in the world, has worked continuously to overcome the past - despite Michelle Obama's comments to the contrary. You should be very proud of America, O'Quinn. It is still a "City on a hill". Most of the writing to the contrary is of Marxist origen and primarily trash.
John,
Keep saying all that b.s. to yourself maybe someday you might even believe it.
Bush and Cheney were chicken hawks. They were full blown cowards and criminals. It doesn't surprise me they are still fooling you. You have lost the ability to reason on the subject.
President Obama is so popular partially because Bush Republicans are so hated in America and around the world. So much so they gave President Obama the Nobel Peace prize.
The Bush Republicans want us to believe all the intellectuals around the world are wrong and they are right. It's pretty fun to watch.
John,
I agree with you 100%. I am a hard-core, patriotic conservative. Reading these childish liberal agruments (and I mean truly child-like in their inability to understand the realities of the world we live in) leaves me nonplussed such that the only comment I can make is a mocking imitation of how ridiculous they sound.
I've enjoyed reading your comments very much, though, and I'm glad you're out there helping to educate the citizens of the beautiful state of CA.
John and the fake name you used to agree with yourself:
Do you know how screwed up this planet would have to be for people like you and the VCRCC to be considered “the conservatives”?
Ventura County Republican Central Committee’s version of CONSERVATISM:
If you don’t agree that Rudy the Transvestite should be President of the United States you are not conservative or Republican. You are a RINO!! We strip you of all that’s Republican because of your lack of support for our transvestite Presidential candidate!!
And you wonder why Republican registration is down in the county…
Is Cornerstone church in Simi Valley a place for anti semitism? I was attending a section of Cornerstone Church headed by Francis Chan in the San Fernando Valley and it was so anti semitic that I walked out of them. This church's philosophy is 1. condemning Jews who don't believe in their Roman dogma OF accepting Jesus as going to hell. This is absolutely arcariac thinking and brings many Jews looking at
the same anti jewish feelings that the Nazi's brought to the table. This Cornerstone Church has no direction and runs on
both hate and fear. Francis the racist Chan along with his
goon squads of Matt Moore and Todd Nightswonger bring this same rhetoric to the table. I encountered a 21 year old idiot
who told me the same hate I heard from Francis Chan and this
situation is outta of control. hate is hate and doesn't belong
on tax payer financing.. kick Cornerstone out of town.
They worship the image of Mary in a grilled cheese sandwich. What do you expect?
I looked today just to see what was going on. And as I thought, this is like the Energizer Bunny -- it just keeps on going and going and going... ad nauseam. The same few people can't stop beating each other over the head with their particular "take" on the world.
Get a life! State your position and then move on. It's time to drop this one. It already went too far before I signed off 11 days ago.
Student and Disgruntled: I suggest you read the Bible and discover that it says much that you might consider
"anti-semitic", but which is simply suggesting that, to follow the Lord, one must separate himself spiritually from others - that's not anti-anything. There's no "hate". By the way, Mary is only seen in Swiss cheese sandwiches and in the early morning light.
Yes, I agree with Kimbaugh's comment that D'Ohbama's trip to Dover was a photo op. Today's bailout of the pseudo-GOP candidate in the 23rd Dist. of NY will cause D'Ohbama to feel a tingle up his leg as will the resignation of Abdullah Abdullah to leave Karzai with another term, forcing D'Ohbama to get off his derriere about Afghanistan. Have a very nice Liberal / Progressive / Marxist / Radical Leftwing day.
Limbaugh on "Fox News Sunday" on D'Ohbama's alleged presidency - " a five minute career "
