The Marmonte League held its league meeting today and decided to extend an invitation to Oaks Christian School to participate in its league while leaving Calabasas to find another league pending CIF-SS approval. This was the official press release issued a few minutes ago:
"The Marmonte League has extended an invitation to Oaks Christian High School to join the members of the Marmonte League which include: Agoura High School, Moorpark High School, Newbury Park High School, Royal High School, Thousand Oaks High School and Westlake High School to participate fully in all league sports.
"While the Marmonte League recognizes Calabasas High School and the contributions it has brought to the league it regrets the affects this decision will have on them; however, it is in the best interest of the League to extend this invitation to Oaks Christian High School to have full participation in all sports."

removing calabasas from the marmonte league and replacing them with oaks christian just goes to show that money is the root of all evil. Oaks christian has the best team money can buy. the best facilities, the best parent support because their families are all rich celebreties. This makes me so upset. what kind of lesson does this teach kids? if you are not good at anything, it is ok to back down and go into something easier? I am disappointed in the marmonte league for approving this decision, and am very disappointed with all involved, from the parents who take their kids out of calabasas and send them to westlake, agoura, and newberry, to the administrators who ok this. the marmonte league, calabasas, and oaks christian are examples of all that is wrong in sports. High school sports are supposed to be the most pure form of sports, but this is proof of just how tainted sports really are. goodbye to the purtity of sports, and hello to a new era of spoiled kids and spoiled athletes who get whatever they want because mommy and daddy wish to live vicariously through their semi talented children. This is BS.
Oaks wants to play only football because they already recruit heavily in that sport. They now have spent 1/2 million on the baseball facility. I bet they start recruiting there now too. Then they will want into the Marmonte in baseball. Being a private school playing against public schools they should have to disclose how and why they "sponser" some players and why is it that the football players they sponser are all 6'4"?
What sport next will they throw money at next basketball?
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow, who every angry is, you should put ignorant beside your name as well. the fact of the matter is calabasas has pretty much lost in every single sport to the other marmonte league teams year after year. most league football teams try to arrange home games against calabasas to ensure a victory for homecoming. so the fact of the matter is the decision is truly to give calabasas a fighting chance at a league title in a sport beside basketball or occasionally tennis. yes money can be the root of all evil and it seems that with the entry of oaks into the marmonte league all of us other teams will have no chance. but the exactly the opposite, why not a bit of good opposition to encourage our athletes to compete against? doesn't make sense cause you're too infuriated? well lets break the whole thing down again. calabasas can't win in this league, they used to have a wall at the pool showing how many league titles they won, then they joined our league... no more. it's just not fair to crush the spirit of a school's athletic program year after year its not about ,"if you are not good at anything." Oaks on the other hand is a really good school situated in between the marmonte schools. an ideal location that competition is worth working harder for. it might be hard for the first two years but once were on the right track we can restore marmonte league's once rightful place as a league worth competing in.
and one question? how will this usher in a "new era" of spoiled childen? are they going to go to oaks just because oaks joined our league? obviously not unless oaks wants to recruit them or the parents want to pay $20000 to send them to that school.
so unless you know exactly what you're talking about... don't talk
I
Angry,
Thanks for keeping it real.
Think of the glory being stolen from the Calabasas team that overcomes "the elite challengers". It's teaches how to earn something. Some people love fighting bullies. Some people love being the underdog. Maybe the people at Oaks Christian and the "league officials" don't understand that. It's called integrity fellas. Integrity. You can't buy that.
wow..i dont kno the future of OC in the Marmonte League, but there popularity iz abut to b flatten, cuz Westlake iz no walk in the park, ten add Moorpark , n i kno Newberry Park iz abut 2 b bac on the blocs...zo i am glad OC got invited 2 the Maramonte League..i stil h8t Westlake..bes playoff game eva Oxnard vs. Westlake '82(The Ventura County Championship..Mar League vs. Channel)...my hat off to thoz gyz of the '82 Warriors team..Fiander, McNeil, and the ota outstanding linebacker tat played nx 2 Fiander n ther gusty quarterback..thx for the memory..
This is not fair for Calabasas just to be kick out of the Marmonte League. This goes to show that when you have money you have the power to do what you want and when you want. Lets just focus on having our teachers in the classroom.
To Angry By Angry,
You sound like an armchair quarterback who never played a down in high school footbal or for that matter sat the bench, not because of talent, but poor attitude. Or probably a parent who fights with opposing team spectators in the stands and embarasses their family and school.
In an era where professional sports entices athletes who've committed to a four-year college to renig their obligation and overpriced professionals who play for the money and recognition, but not for the sport, High school sports is the purest form of sport (that money can't buy), but try telling that to those hypocrites in the Miramonte League).
Calabasas High School prides itself in academics. A little known fact is that only 5.7 percent of high school senior football players will go on to college football.s
Calabasas Football has encountered several years of drought, but after an unexpected exit of the varsity coach, Lance Martin, which prompted the return of Larry Edwards, the last successful Calabasas High Football coach, Calabasas one their first league opener against Granada Hills last Friday.
I played and started high school football in Central California in Divison I North Yosemite League and we didn't have private schools buying championships!
Cool it To Angry By Angry, you don't know what you're talking about!
