Royal High football coach Kevin Flye's reaction on St. Bonaventure and Oaks Christian joining the Marmonte League for the 2010 season:
"You don't want to hear my reaction. It's obviously not a good thing. I'm with the majority that feels that private schools have no business in our leagues.
"It's not a good day. One of them coming in would have been bad enough. But two? There's not one good thing about it."
(is it a surprise?)
"From what I hear, there are different scenarios. We knew this might happen. I hear now that the Thousand Oaks schools may be trying to put something together.
"It depends on what half (of the league) you're in how you really feel about it.
"It may be a full-power league. Now teams that don't make the playoffs won't make the playoffs. It's not a good deal.
"It's something we thought might happen. It hoped it would."
(What about if the top five were put in one side and the bottom five put in another)
"Let's be honest. That benefits us, if we're in the right half of the league. But I have friends coaching at those other schools. It's just not right."
