There is an outside chance that two area football teams could be picked for state bowl games if they win CIF-Southern Section championships.
The CIF State office will announced its bowl selections on Dec. 13.
Oaks Christian, winner of six straight section titles and 27 consecutive playoff games, is being touted as not only the Division III leading candidate, but a possible open division selection as well.
Westlake entered the week ranked No. 3 among Division II football programs in Southern California. The 13-0 Warriors helped their case with a dramatic 17-7 win over two-time Division III state champion St. Bonaventure last week.
Westlake faces the winner of Saturday's Moorpark-Valencia game for the Northern Division title. Moorpark is ranked No. 5 in Division II.
Either Westlake or Moorpark must depend on Servite, ranked No. 2 in Division II, losing in the Southern Division title game.
