The hottest team down the stretch will be the one that wins the Marmonte League boys' soccer race.
With four games to go, Royal, Newbury Partk and Simi Valley are locked in a three-way tie for first.
Royal and Newbury Park have been the hot teams of late.
Newbury Park racked up two big wins last week, including a 1-0 victory over Agoura.
Royal's 2-1 victory over Agoura on Friday night extended its win streak to four in a row.
"We're playing well right now," said Royal coach Ignacio Saldain. "Our goal has always been to win the league championship."

The two high school football players who arguably were the top two defensive linemen in the county last fall have each made college commitments.
Quen Kantaris, the Moorpark High defensive end who led the county with 16 sacks, will attend West Point and play collegiately for Army. Cassius Marsh, the Oaks Christian School standout who also racked up 16 sacks, said he will attend UCLA.
The first day that high school athletes can sign their letters of intent will be Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Kantaris was selected as large-schools Defensive Lineman of the Year by the Marmonte League and county coaches. He was the Star's Defensive Player of the Year.
Marsh, who switched his previous commitment from LSU, was the small-schools Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Both UCLA and USC are making a big push to land Oaks Christian senior defensive end Cassius Marsh.
Oaks Christian coach Bill Redell said he spoke to UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel on Thursday, along with Bruins' defensive line coach Todd Howard. USC assistant coach Ed Orgeron also talked with Redell.
Marsh had previously made a commitment to LSU.
A strong push in overtime and two stalwart performances enabled the Oaks
Christian School boys¹ basketball team to win the first-place showdown in
the Tri-Valley League on Wednesday night.
Dillon van der Wal scored a game-high 22 points with 10 rebounds, and Blair
Holliday collected 14 points, nine rebounds, seven steals and six assists to
lead the host Lions to a 66-60 victory over arch rival Oak Park.
Tied at 56-56 after regulation, Oaks Christian opened overtime with a
3-pointer by Taylor Hange and an inside basket by van der Wal to take
charge.
Oaks Christian (11-7) takes sole possession of first place in the league
chase at 4-0
.
Oak Park (12-8, 3-1) was led by Ron Lee with 15 points, five rebounds and
three assists and Austin Ramljak with 13 points.

Brenda Lorca and Samantha Ebberson scored three goals apiece as the Pacifica High girls' water polo team held off a late rally to defeat rival Oxnard 9-6 in a Pacific View League game on Tuesday afternoon at the Oxnard Aquatic Center.
Goalkeeper Andrea Limones made 17 blocks for Pacifica (7-5, 3-1). Lauren Ray scored three goals to lead Oxnard (5-13, 2-2).
Pacifica jumped to a big early lead only to have Oxnard counter with a third-quarter scoring blitz.
But the Tritons managed to remain in front to stay in second place in the league standings.
"The girls are excited about the win," Pacifica head coach Travis Dasnoit said. "But we had a tough loss to Rio Mesa last week, so we are still kind of dwelling on that a little bit. We need to work harder to have a better showing against them next time."
Junior Hannah Kolbeck and senior Rebecca Parziale had 18 points apiece, but it was sophomore Susanna Kolbeck who had four of Villanova Prep's five points in overtime as the Wildcats edged host St. Bonaventure, 58-55, in overtime Tuesday night.
The Kolbeck sisters combined for 19 rebounds, including 10 for Susanna, who also added six points for Villanova (13-3, 2-2).
Hailey Lozano had 17 points, including two free throws with nine seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime, and Juliette Hill added 13 points and four assists for St. Bonaventure (8-10, 0-4).
The Fillmore High girls' basketball team used height to its advantage on Tuesday night to defeat Nordhoff 53-42 in a Tri-Valley League game at Fillmore High.
The Flashes (11-7, 3-1) had three players finish with double-doubles. Jazzmin Galvez scored 12 points and grabbed 22 rebounds. Victoria Ayala had 14 points and 14 rebounds and Conchita Meza added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Ayala made eight straight free throws in the fourth quarter after Nordhoff had pulled to within five points.
Makayla Morrison scored 13 points for Nordhoff (10-7, 2-3) and Carmen Cotsis had 10 points. Leah Paquette grabbed 11 rebounds.

No more tie games in divisional boys' and girls' soccer championship finals.
The CIF-Southern Section has announced that all championship games now will played to a conclusion. In the past, time restraints forced the CIF-SS to permit co-champions if the game was knotted after 80 minutes of regulation.
The new rules stipulate that a game tied after regulation will lead to a pair of 10-minute overtimes. If the game is still tied, penalty kicks will decide the winner.
The change has been mandated by the CIF-SS Soccer Regional Championships, which began three years ago.
It's crowded atop the Pacific View League in boys' soccer, where four teams were ranked in the Top 7 of last week's CIF-Southern Section Division IV poll -- No. 3 Pacifica, No. 4 Channel Islands, No. 5 Rio Mesa and No. 7 Oxnard.
It wasn¹t a championship match, but had all the flavor of one.
Camarillo High¹s Matt Hickman and San Lorenzo Valley¹s Cody Rodebaugh, both
returning state placers and currently ranked among the top 145-pound
wrestlers in the state, met in the quarterfinals of the Five-Counties Tournament Saturday at Fountain Valley High.
Rodebaugh, the 2009 state 140-pound champion, defeated Hickman, 6-4.
Rodebaugh is ranked No. 1 in the state at 145 pounds.
Hickman, who was 3-2 and one place away from a top-eight finish last year at
state, finished fourth in one of the most prestigious tournaments of the
season. Hickman is No. 4 in the state.
Brent Meline of Camarillo was 1-1 in the 140-pound division

The Ventura High boys basketball team defeated crosstown rival Buena 63-48 Friday night behind 15 points and eight rebounds from guard Dylan Houck, who was energized by the capacity crowd at Ventura College:
"How could you not want to play hard in this kind of atmosphere?"
"Playing two games against Buena here is the highlight to our season. We're glad to finally get this first one behind us."
How's this for a memorable week?
The Royal High boys basketball team opened the week by losing to Newbury Park on Jordan Brower's buzzer-beating, half-court heave Monday (scroll down for video) and ended it tonight by shocking cross-county rival Simi Valley, beating the Pioneers for the first time since 2004 and the second time in 20 meetings.
"That's this league," said Simi Valley coach Christian Aurand. "Anybody can beat anybody."
Jose Deharo tied the game with less than 30 seconds to play and Gabriel Camacho followed with a buzzer-beating layup as the Channel Islands boys' basketball team nipped rivals Hueneme, 40-38, Friday night.
Deharo had 11 points and Bobby Diaz and Camacho had 10 points apiece for the Raiders (10-8, 1-2), who were also lifted by Alfredo Raya's nine rebounds and Jeremiah Valoaga's eight rebounds.
"He had some huge buckets in the fourth quarter," said Channel Islands coach Brad Bowman of Camacho, who scored all 10 points in the second half.
Emilio Morales had 21 points for Hueneme (9-10, 0-3), which dug out of a eight-point hole to take a 38-36 last-minute lead.
"It was a good basketball environment," said Bowman. "It was a lot of fun tonight.

Oaks Christian football coach Bill Redell's decision to continue coaching the Lions was helped by the decision to promote long-time offensive coordinator Mark Bates to assistant head coach and reduce some of Redell's on-field duties.
Redell, who has a 121-12-1 record at Oaks, was involved in a serious car accident before the 2008 season in which he suffered a broken back. He told the Oaks administrators that he would not continue coaching after the 2009 season partly because of the pain. But the staff reorganization has helped offset some concerns.
"I am very excited to lead our team into the Marmonte League and coach against an outstanding group of schools, several of whom are led by former coaches of mine," Redell said. "I think our league will be the top football league in the state and will provide the ultimate challenge for our program, coaches and students."
As part of his new role, Redell will help direct a campaign to raise $1 million to install synthetic turf at Oaks Christian's Thorson Stadium and re-surface the surrounding track.
No need to plan a retirement party.
Oaks Christian football coach Bill Redell is returning to the sideline next season. Redell announced his intentions today, so he will be leading the Lions into their first season in the Marmonte League.

Senior Jordan Brower made two 3-pointers in the final 25 seconds of overtime, including the buzzer-beating winner from midcourt, as the visiting Newbury Park High boys' basketball team shocked Royal Monday night, 65-62.
"It was crazy," said Newbury Park head coach Jeff Perrault. "What a game.
"We put Jordan in the corner. Thankfully, he stayed there."
Brower stroked a 3 from the corner to tie the score with 25 seconds to play. After a Royal miss with less than five seconds to play, Brower took a dribble past his own 3-point arc and banked home the game-winning shot from inside the midcourt stripe.
The senior forward finished with 22 points, including five 3-pointers.
"The Royal crowd was crazy loud," said Newbury Park assistant Jason Townsley. "Then dead silent while the Newbury Park people stormed the floor."
The Panthers (10-8, 3-2), who were coming off a 2-point home loss to Simi Valley Saturday, improved to 3-2 in Marmonte League play.
Two-sport standout Phillip Muscarella now knows what sport he will be playing in college.
It will be soccer.
Muscarella, a senior at Newbury Park High, has accepted a scholarship to play soccer for Santa Clara University. His college coach will be Cam Rast, a former Royal High standout and captain for the U.S. Olympic soccer team.
Muscarella starred at wide receiver and defensive back for the Panthers football team, catching 65 passes for 980 yards and 10 touchdowns.
It's status quo for area boys' soccer teams in the CIF-SS playoffs in February.
The Marmonte League remains in Division I. The Channel League stays in Division II. and the Pacific View League and Tri-Valley Leagues are still in Division IV.
The Frontier League stays put in Division VII.
Rio Mesa coach Brandon Fuchs, whose team won the Division IV championship last season, thinks change is coming a year from now.
"I think this is our last year in Division IV," he said. "Our league will be moving up. I just hope we move up one division and not two."
With three teams in the Final Four last year, the Pacific View League has likely played its way out of Division IV. But will it move up to Division III or Division II?
A lot may depends on this year's post-seasn.
The Ventura High boys' soccer team hasn't had much trouble scoring goals this season.
Then came the Buena Tournament.
The Cougars went cold and scored zero goals in four games last week. Ventura even had a chance to finish fifth, but lost by shootout to Channel League rival Dos Pueblos.
Ventura coach Todd Tackett likened the scoring slump to a baseball player's downturn.
"It's like being a baseball player, and going into a slump where you can't get a hit," he said.
"It's not for lack of effort. We're just in a time of the season when nothing works."
