Senior Jordan Brower made two 3-pointers in the final 25 seconds of overtime, including the buzzer-beating winner from midcourt, as the visiting Newbury Park High boys' basketball team shocked Royal Monday night, 65-62.
"It was crazy," said Newbury Park head coach Jeff Perrault. "What a game.
"We put Jordan in the corner. Thankfully, he stayed there."
Brower stroked a 3 from the corner to tie the score with 25 seconds to play. After a Royal miss with less than five seconds to play, Brower took a dribble past his own 3-point arc and banked home the game-winning shot from inside the midcourt stripe.
The senior forward finished with 22 points, including five 3-pointers.
"The Royal crowd was crazy loud," said Newbury Park assistant Jason Townsley. "Then dead silent while the Newbury Park people stormed the floor."
The Panthers (10-8, 3-2), who were coming off a 2-point home loss to Simi Valley Saturday, improved to 3-2 in Marmonte League play.
