The Fillmore High girls' basketball team used height to its advantage on Tuesday night to defeat Nordhoff 53-42 in a Tri-Valley League game at Fillmore High.
The Flashes (11-7, 3-1) had three players finish with double-doubles. Jazzmin Galvez scored 12 points and grabbed 22 rebounds. Victoria Ayala had 14 points and 14 rebounds and Conchita Meza added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Ayala made eight straight free throws in the fourth quarter after Nordhoff had pulled to within five points.
Makayla Morrison scored 13 points for Nordhoff (10-7, 2-3) and Carmen Cotsis had 10 points. Leah Paquette grabbed 11 rebounds.
