The Ventura High boys' soccer team hasn't had much trouble scoring goals this season.
Then came the Buena Tournament.
The Cougars went cold and scored zero goals in four games last week. Ventura even had a chance to finish fifth, but lost by shootout to Channel League rival Dos Pueblos.
Ventura coach Todd Tackett likened the scoring slump to a baseball player's downturn.
"It's like being a baseball player, and going into a slump where you can't get a hit," he said.
"It's not for lack of effort. We're just in a time of the season when nothing works."
