The Rio Mesa High boys' 4x100 relay set a Ventura County record and moved to the top of the national leaderboard Saturday at the Ventura Track and Field Invitational at Larrabee Stadium.
The team of Jamison Jordan, LaDarrin Roach, Blake Selig and Jamaal Perkins posted a time of 41.42 seconds. The county record was 41.51 by Rio Mesa in 2007.
Rio Mesa moved past West Orange (Texas), which ran the relay in 41.69 on March 6.
The Royal boys' 4x1,600 relay bettered the fastest time in the state this season with a winning time of 17:56.41
