Before coming to the Star's Web site, Mandy McCarthy spent years in the Hollywood trenches working for the Entertainment News Wire. She keeps in touch with all her old "contacts" and can still dish up a steamin' heap 'o' gossip at a moments notice. If you got some dirt, go ahead and give her a shout via email.

July 20, 2005 - Summer Mania

The Television Critics Association is in full swing for the next few days. CBS presented their new shows on Tuesday and promised an enlightening miniseries on Pope John Paul II. Cary Elwes will play the younger Pope and Ian Holm from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy will play the pontiff in his later years.

For those "Joan of Arcadia" fans, CBS president Nina Tassler is sad to see the show go but said there will likely not be any follow-up movie to tie up the loose ends of the show. It's too bad that the fans of this series will not get any closure.

For those "Arrested Development" fans, FOX is airing a 4 episode marathon of the show on July 29 from 8-10 p.m. If you haven't caught the show yet, be sure to check it out.

Paula Abdul will be touring the country and teaching people how to dance during video vignettes that will air during the new reality show "So You Think You Can Dance" premiering tonight at 8 p.m. No word yet on if she will be back for the next season of "American Idol" yet.

The "American Idol" tour is in full swing with the Idols playing to eager fans. The tour stops in Toronto tonight before making its way to New Jersey and New York. Tickets are still available on Ticketmaster for the Staples Center show on August 17.

For those Clay Aiken fans who were paying attention to this blog last week, here is the article that was done on Clay's visit to Camarillo.
