Annika Sorenstam announced today she is going to retire after this season is over. Like most golf fans, I'm a little disappointed Sorenstam has decided she's had enough. Based on her recent win, she's still got the game to compete with anyone on the LPGA Tour, including Lorena Ochoa.
I realize she is getting married and wants to start a family but she could do that and still play. She claim she will be able to turn her back on competition without easing away from it. I hope she is right for her sake, but most athletes really struggle with that my guess is that she will the same.
Got a chance to play Torrey Pines yesterday at U.S. Open media day. It's going to be a great test of golf. I will be surprised in the winning score is under par, even with Tiger having played so well at Torrey Pines throughout the years. The course is in great shape and the rough is going to be really challenging.
