Tension among the guests

When Ventura County Republicans came together Friday night in Thousand Oaks to induct Sen. Tom McClintock into their Hall of Fame there were — it being primary season — some awkward moments.

Supervisor Judy Mikels sat well across the room from challenger Peter Foy. Ditto for Bob Larkin, who was well removed from the front-center table where the incumbent Assembly member he is challenging, Audra Strickland, was seated.

And congressional challenger Michael Tenenbaum worked the room and mingled, but I never saw him come too close to Janice Gallegly, wife of the incumbent congressman he is challenging.

There were others in attendance who weren't too keen on Tenenbaum's candidacy. Norma Lagomarsino, wife of ex-Congressman Bob Lagomarsino, saw the challenger working the room and remarked, "This is the first time I've seen Michael Huffington ... er, Tenenbaum. Freudian slip."

Lagomarsino was ousted from Congress in 1992 because of a primary challenge from Huffington, who went on to win election to the House, immediately begin running for the Senate, lose the Senate race and then disappear from politics.

Audra Strickland a poster child for corruption. Hiring each other, Tony and Audra with campaign funds.

Lets not forget taking 26,600 from State Republicans to give to her husbands group. The California Club for Growth. Only that money was then used by DMH printing in Irvine to send attack mailers against Nicole Parra in the Central Valley (all a violation of proposition 34's rules on independent expenditures). One day the FPPC and good ole boy, Ventura D.A. Totten, might actually slam the two shysters over it... (check CALACCESS)

So, Audra Stricklands "crime" is arranging for $26,000 for brochures that criticize Nicole Parra? Note the writer of the previous email does not note that Parra is a Democrat. Audra wanted to defeat a Democrat, while the writer of the previous email is upset that GOP money was spent to defeat a Democrat.

This is why activists get upset--some in our Party would rather have a Democrat in office than admit it is the right thing to do, to defeat Democrats. Crazy world! Good thing that the writer of the previous email is a Bob Larkin supporter. he can now count Democrat protectors and Lyndon LaRouche supporters among his supporters...good coalition Bob...though not a GOP one.

95 percent accurate
Over the last 25 presidential elections, Ventura County voters have backed the winner 24 times, or over 95 percent of the time. It is one of only a handful of counties in the nation that has been such a predictable bellwether.
