Unique tradition

| | Comments (0)

The Moorpark College football team travels to Bakersfield Saturday night for one of the biggest games in its program's history. The Raiders, unbeaten through seven games for the second time in school history and ranked No. 2 in Southern California, No. 4 in the state and No. 6 in the nation by JC Gridwire, faces No. 7 Bakersfield in a WSC North showdown.

Despite joining the Western State Conference in 1986, Bakersfield has won more WSC titles than any program dating back to 1946.

Moorpark, which started football in 1968, is fifth with eight titles. Ventura, which began play in 1927, has eight titles since 1946.

UCLA starting quarterball Ben Olson is expected to miss two of the Bruins biggest games of the season, at Oregon Saturday and at Notre Dame on Oct. 21, after the left knee injury the starting quarterback suffered Saturday in UCLA's 27-7 win over Arizona was believed to be a sprained medial collateral ligament.
