LIVE — No. 13 Irvine Valley at No. 4 Ventura women

We're here live at the VC Athletic Event Center as Ventura College women's basketball team (27-5) hosts No. 13 Irvine Valley (18-12) in the Southern California regional semifinals tonight.

Tip off is 7 p.m.

Ventura won the Western State Conference's North Division for the 18th straight year and is 14-3 in this round of the playoffs since coach Ned Mircetic was hired in 1990.

Irvine Valley finished in fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference, the state's top lead.

The winning team gets either No. 5 Saddleback or No. 12 College of the Canyons March 8.

SECOND HALF

2:15 — Hicks makes a pair of free throws, 84-37.
4:07 — Griggs' pull up followed by a 3-pointer by IVC's Tessa Ross, 82-37.
4:54 — Kaljo hits one of two free throws, 80-35.
5:34 — Heurung on the post, 79-35.
6:15 — Kaljo pulls up for a transition jumper, she's got 19, 77-35.

13:10 — Heurung swishes a fallaway j, 57-27. She's got 8 points.

13:42 — Heurung scores off the inbounds under the basket, 55-27.

16:10 — Conklin buries a 17-footer to drive how the point.
- Conklin is fouled in transition and buries the pullup. The foul was on the floor, but it shows how on she is tonight.
17:04 — Santizo's jumper forces an Irvine timeout. Ventura has scored nine of the first 11 points of the second half.
-Irvine Valley has come out of the locker room like a team that has driven all this way from Orange County to take a beating and get out of town. No spark. No fight.
17:49 — Kaljo makes two free throws after picking up an offensive rebound, 49-22.
18:13 — Kaljo finds Conklin alone under the basket on the break for a 3-point play, 47-22. The sophomore from Santa Maria has 17 points.
18:55 — Conklin finds Nicholson alone on the break for an easy layup, 44-22.

Ventura leads 42-20 because it is shooting 52 percent from the field (15 of 29) while forcing 18 turnovers in the first half. Conklin (14 points) has played like a ball of fire. Kaljo has 13 points. Tait leads the Lazers with 7 points. Irvine Valley has made 8 of 23 field goals, 2 of 6 free throws and is outrebounding Ventura 17-16. Ventura is 5 of 12 from 3-point land.
0:00 — Wong strokes a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Ventura a 42-20 halftime lead.
0:35 — Heurung makes both free throws after being bailed out with the shot clock going down, 39-20 VC.
1:01 — Butler makes one of two free throws, 37-20 VC.
1:25 — Tait makes one of two free throws, 37-19 VC.
1:29 — Wong scores on the break from Santizo's steal and dribble.
2:27 — Dunn picks up her third foul on the offensive end.
3:21 — The game has been stopped because of a basketball stuck in the stanction above the backboard. Donelle Griggs comes to the rescue to free the ball so play can continue.
4:20 — Tait buries a 3-pointer from the left corner. Kaljo answers with one of her own, 35-18.
5:26 — Conklin picks up her second foul and leaves the game. Dunn misses the front end of the 1-and-1.
6:36 — Santizo makes one of two free throws, 32-15.
7:00 — Conklin's steal leads to Santizo's easy layup, 31-15.
7:36 — Butler is fouled while hitting a bunny, but she misses the free throw, 29-15 VC.
8:07 — Full timeout, Irvine Valley.
8:30 — Conklin scores from Santizo's pass and buries the free throw for a 3-point play, 29-13 VC.
8:56 — Conklin buries two free throws to make it 26-13. She's already got her average, 11 points.
9:24 — Kaljo misses the free throw on a 3-point play. VC is now 1-5 from the free throw line, yet still leads 24-13.
10:34 — Fuentes answers with a jumper, 22-13 VC.
10:59 — Santizo hits the Pirates' third 3-pointer form the left wing, 22-11 VC.
11:29 — Smith scores for Irvine Valley and Heurung misses another two free throws. She's 0-3 from the line. Ventura coach Ned Mircetic is not happy. 19-11, VC
12:29 — Conklin buries a 3-pointer from the left wing, as Kaljo slumps to the floor injured, 19-9 VC.
- Ventura has started very strongly, especially Conklin and Kaljo.
14:43 — Kaljo wheels through the paint for a 3-point play, 16-7 VC.
- Tiffany Smith, who scored 49 points with 17 rebounds and nine steals against Santa Monica earlier this season, enters the game for Irvine Valley.
15:02 — Fuentes scores off an inbounds play, but Heurung responds inside, 13-7 VC
15:35 — Conklin scores in transition to make it 11-5, Pirates.
15:50 — Conklin is fed by Santizo's steal under the basket for a layup.

16:59 — Guard Eja Wong and center Julie Heurung enter for Ventura. Heurung picks up a charge filling the lane in transiton.
18:00 — Tait's 3-pointer from the top of the key rolls in, but Kaljo matches with a trey in transition. Ventura, 7-3.
19:05 Conklin backs down her defender and buries a turnaround 7-footer to make it 4-0.
19:35 - Kaljo buries a jumper in transition to give Ventura a 2-0 lead.
- The clock is winding down below 1:30. So national anthems and tipoff are immenent.
- Irvine Valley starts Patrice Fuentes, Ashley Dunn, Jenna Schonfeld, Nicole Tait and DJ Butler.. Make that Ashley Ross instead of Dunn. The Lazers nearly picked up a pregame techincal foul.
- Ventura starts Michelle Santizo, Jenelle Conklin, Indira Kaljo, Sara Nicholson and Jessica Jameson.
